THE TRIUMPH TRIANGLE – RIDE TO POLLACHI

#FEATURED| Views: 255

We rode the Triumph Street Twin, Tiger XRX and the mighty Thunderbird Storm from Chennai to Pollachi to attend the most insane multiple Biker Club gathering in south India – BLOCK ’17 (Bikers League of Coimbatore Consortium).

It was 5.oo am in the morning & we were eagerly waiting for one of the riders to join in. The day ahead very looked very interesting. We had been given a Triumph Tiger XRX 800, Triumph Street Twin and a Triumph Thunderbird Storm by Harbour Triumph. The plan of action was simple. We ride out from Chennai to a quaint little town called Pollachi (Appx. 600 kms) to attend BLOCK – 2017 (Bikers League of Coimbatore Consortium).

So now, BLOCK is an annual gala event that is organised jointly by the admins of clubs based around the Coimbatore area. This year saw the participations from more than 19 Clubs with over 200 riders riding bikes ranging from Royal Enfield, Jawa, Yezdi, to touring bikes and super bikes etc.

We headed out of Chennai at 5 am & rode throughout the day to reach Pollachi by 3 pm. We did stop by for a few good sunrise pictures and stops for tea breaks (actually it was more of buttermilk, juices and water). And we did find out some good spots to push the bikes to the limits on off road terrain. The event venue was set at Sakthi River Resort which was just about 8 kms from the town. We checked in and soon got introduced to the organisers of the event. The event organisers briefed us about the event and we spent a casual evening by the riverbed. The next day had a lot waiting for us.

We were up early at about 7 am and after finishing a sumptuous breakfast, we could already hear the sounds of all sorts of bikes arriving at the venue. It was indeed a sight to see a huge parking space get filled up with bikes within an hour. Once the registration was complete, every club admin introduced their club to the audience on a stage. After the formal introductions and announcements, the event was open and everybody headed to participate in the biker games.

We have been to many biker events all over India; be it RiderMania or India Bike Week. We’ve seen and been a part of the biking brotherhood. We’ve spent time with people we never met and it has always been a great experience for us. But never ever have we seen the level of brotherhood among different clubs as we saw in this event. The vibe over here was just next level. So much energy, so much love, so much brotherhood, it was just amazing. We have always heard about how the people and culture of the Kovai region are very friendly and all. Seeing and being a recipient of their hospitality was a wonderful experience and this is something we took back home with us.

By 3 pm, it was lunch time and after a sumptuous lunch, we headed to the closing ceremony and prize distribution. We did manage to get all the participants together for a big group photo and it came out just right. Attending an event like this was a unique experience for us. We would like to thank the moderators and organisers of BLOCK ’17 for inviting us and making us a part of their family. Thank You Harbour City Motors, Chennai for the wonderful bikes that stole the show at the event. Events like these have set up a very high benchmark for organisation, brotherhood and hospitality for such non profit biker events in India.
